I love the colours of the small prints and checks, made fresh by the white sashing. Each checkerboard block is stipple quilted in the main colour of that block.
The white sashing was a great area to try my hand at some free-motion feathers. I didn't mark these out beforehand, just used the needle and thread as my 'pencil'.
I was quite happy with how the feathers turned out.
This quilt was finished about 5 years ago and you can see I was starting to wander across to the brighter, fresher colours (though as I've said previously, I still do love the antique-type look, I just don't tend to sew it much at the moment). It's interesting to see how your tastes change over the years.
There hasn't been much sewing around here with sickness in the house, but what is going on here....?
Something is brewing!!

Your early quilts are outstanding. You are some kind of quilting prodigy! Good looking fabrics, and I envy you the Flea Market Fancy!
Gorgeous quilt - maybe we should all do a Kaffe using the same pattern, lol....

It's true, our tastes change and there's more fabric out there now. You must share how you store your stash someday. I love the quilt, it's a really good pattern for all sorts of fabrics. The quilted feathers are great in the sashing too.
Hope the family is well.
Love this one too.. love squares.. and I like the background you chosed... nice contrast to the quilt... :o)

It really is astonishing how your fabric taste's change! Mine have considerably over the last year.
Love that 25 patch, all those squares!!!!
Perhaps we all have a former quilting life. I know my taste has changed and have definitely crossed the border into brighter fabrics. Beautiful quilt and quilting. Can't wait to see what you're up to next. Oh how I'd LOVE some of the green leafy Flea Market Fancy. Wishing you good health.
OK, blogspot ate my comment. Let's see, what did I say? Oh yes, love the Black Mountain designs. The block would look wonderful in Kaffe prints and shot cottons, no?! Hoping you and yours are feeling better. We had a sore throat complaint this morning which I'm hoping amounts to nothing. And those are some very pretty pretties you are working with and teasing us with. :-) Have fun!
Always inspiration from you Cathy....you should start a group making this quilt from Kaffe fabrics, I'd join!
Oh boy you've got me very curious to see what you're working on now.
what a lovely piece!!!! Thanks for sharing that
Can't wait to see what is brewing!!
Those fabrics will make a great brew!
Beautifully done. Your quilting is perfect, good choice of feathers in sashing and stippling in blocks. Your pics of whats brewing has peeked my interest.

Lovely quilt. I did a version some time ago after I saw the one in the Black Mountain Qs book and then another on the cover of a Fons & Porter magazine. Every one different, and every one pretty as a picture.
Great quilt and quilting! The feathers look great! Can't wait to see what's coming up next! Those fabrics look yummy!
