Sue Ross BOM & Kaffe Quiltalong

It's been ages since I've shown any of my blocks from the Sue Ross/Material Obsession BOM. That's cause it's been ages since I've worked on them! This year has been a little all over the place and its already halfway through April. I think I've missed a month somewhere!!! I am quite behind in this BOM now, but I have got an applique block finished. This is my 'practice' block in bright fabrics.
It's a fun, reasonably quick applique to make up, and I'm thrilled with the way the bright colours have worked out on this block.
I have begun work on the actual applique block I received from MO, but have put it aside for the moment while I'm working on my snowball quilt applique.
It's a start!

Oh, and if you are interested in a quilt-along with Kaffe and Liza, check out the details here I'm very excited!

That block is just beautiful!! But that doesn't surprise me one bit! Your color sense and workmanship is impeccable. I am also excited about the Quilt Along too. I am going to do a diamond quilt from the book!! Very excited!

Your practice block is fantastic, Cathy! Of course, if I did the practice one so nicely, I would rest on my laurels and perhaps not get to the actual one. ;-) Your snowball applique looks WONDERFUL as well! How is it to do such fine work on the dobby? Seems like it would turn under easily? Can't wait to see more!

Love your applique project, I just finished up the background for my next applique project from Piece O' Cake designs. It has bold flowers like yours, on a freeing no ruler background.

Well, I'm further behind than you are, if that makes you feel any better. And I joined the Kaffe Quilt-along, too. Yikes! Look at me, adding new projects when I can't even keep up with the old ones. It's fun, though :)

The Sue Ross BOM is fabulous. I was interested in joining when it first started, and then found out how much $$$ it would cost to mail to the US. Decided just to follow visually from there.
A Kaffe quilt along? This is the first I've heard of it! Thanks for sharing the news. I will be watching for sure!

Hi Cathy. I must ask what you do with the practice blocks. I have never heard of doing this first and I know I couldn't do it. Once is enough.
Love the fabric choices.
