Chintzd Up Haze Kilim & a Thank You

Wow, where has this week disappeared to, Wednesday already? I put the finishing stitches into the binding of my Chintzd Up Haze Kilim quilt the other day.
The quilting was very quick...I used my darning foot to free motion quilt some large flowers in the centre of each diamond. These flowers can be done by eye...you don't need to mark out any pattern before hand, just pretend the needle is a pencil and doodle over the fabric.
Again using the darning foot I stitched straight (or fairly straight!) lines along the triangle frames.
A little bit of loopy loops and loopy flowers for the border.
The binding is a gorgeous Michael Miller Ta Dot in Grape.
The backing. I adore Kaffes large floral fabrics, they never fail to make me smile.
I had a wonderful visit from the postie this week. My Licorice Allsorts quilt won a prize in Stephanies (from Loft Creations) String Quilt Challenge. Stephanie had many sponsors who donated wonderful prizes, and my quilt won this gorgeous pack from Robyn at Daisy Quilts.
3 gorgeous prints called Freebird by Mo Mo. Some gorgeous buttons, and check out the divine fat yellow ric rac. Thank you so much Stephanie for hosting the String Quilt Challenge, and Robyn for this beautiful prize.
I will leave you with a little teaser...I'm in a doll quilt swap and have finally come up with my design. I'm sure this will not be the last doll quilt I will make, it is a nice change to make up something a lot quicker than a regular sized quilt!
Have a lovely stitchy week. xo

A beautiful quilt, Cathy! The quilting is both clever and pretty, I am impressed with you doing the quilting on your own sewing machine! It seems quite scary to tackle a big quilt like this...

Gorgeous quilt Cathy, love it. Love your machine quilting too. Am envious that you manage the machine so well!! Bought a new Bernina and the BSR foot, I wish I can turn it on & instruct it to machine quilt it by itself. Ha Ha!! Cheers, Kim McLean

Thanks for the inspiration for the quilting pattern. I was ready to start quilting two quilts for my twin girls who were turning 11 and the plan was to give them their new quilts on their birthday but I couldn't find the right quilting design to suit the quilt and my quilting skill. I have now finished both quilts using the flower pattern and they look great and the girls are very happy with their new quilts. Thanks for your lovely and inspiring blog.

Thank you so much Stephanie P, I'm thrilled that you were able to finish your girls' quilts with this pattern! Thank you for your lovely comment, you came up as a no-reply comment, so I can only hope you might revisit here and see my thanks! xo
