Absolutely Addicted to Applique!

Oh yes, I really love it. Kim McLeans patterns always suck me in, all those gorgeous appliqued corners, curves, circles, etc, totally addictive. I've been having a blast making up my first Roseville Album block. A few hours spent playing with colour, auditioning it for the block, cutting out the freezer paper shapes, then time spent with needle and thread stitching it all together, who could ask for more?
The background fabric is still speaking to me which is good, sometimes when you start something don't you find you can change your mind once it has been stitched? But I'm happy how the background fabric shows through enough to give interest and even perhaps compliment the applique, but not to overpower it.
Meet the birds, aren't they cute....?!!
I adore orange, so I am making this quilt with less red and more orange.
Using mainly Kaffe/Brandon/Philip/Amy fabrics on this one, with a few showings from the likes of Denise Schmidt (flea market fancy), Jennifer Paganelli, Keiko Goke, Sandi Henderson, Michael Miller (love his dots and damask), etc. Lots of inspiration for this quilt (and other Kim McLean quilts) at Glorious Applique (if you haven't found your way there already!).

Oh, I received a gorgeous book in the mail today, quilts photographed somewhere beautiful in France (can you guess the book?). I will take a couple of pics and show it here soon. xo

the background fabric fits well with the cheerful patterns of the applique fabrics. You chose well.
