As I said, this is a very quick little quiltalong, only taking a few hours to chop up the jelly roll and sew up the blocks.
As usual I am not totally sticking to the plan given, I have added 1 yard of green and white spot to alternate each Dream On block, also making less blocks to make a smaller, more cot sized quilt.
The Dream On range is such a pretty range, although I usually go for brighter more saturated colours, these fabrics remind me of gorgeous vintage sheets.
Beautiful florals...
Sweet butterflies...My plan is to lay the blocks out alternating between green spots and the florals...

Also, I had some very exciting news this week....my name was pulled out of a hat to be offered the chance to attend a workshop with Kaffe at Amitie in February next year!!! Of course I was on the phone in an instant saying yes...a workshop with the master of colour, how could I say no to that?!!!!

FABULOUS CATHY!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS on being picked to join the Kaffe class. how awesome!!!
Congratulations! You must be so excited!
Love your jelly roll quilt, too. That's such a sweet fabric line.
You lucky, lucky woman!! Can I come with you in your sewing machine case. I promise to be really really quiet!!
eeek! Jealous!!! I'm not entirely sure you were drawn out of a hat - I reckon they thought that they could not possibly miss out on having Melbourne's KF-Quilt-maker extraordinaire!! Maybe Kaffe asked for you??? Wouldn't that be cool!
I love the color combinations and patterns of this. The swirls in the floral design mixed with polka dots is very charming.
Oooo, baby, baby...that is just wicked awesome! Congratulations!
In stitches,
Teresa :o)
Wonderful opportunity - good for you! And I love your plan on the FQ quilt-a-long which I also am doing but haven't been able to post pics yet because I lent my nephew my camera for the weekend. Your fabrics are fantastic - I must get myself some of those!
I love the colors you picked!
Congratulations Cathy, well deserved! In fact I can't think of anyone I know that will make better use of a workshop with him....

That is a much easier way to make that block than the one I had to make for a swap. It had a lot more seams but the overall effect was not so different........and that is certainly much quicker. Found some pictures back here

I lost heart when some of mine were returned along with others that were worse but were still swapped and sent to me. I was glad it was the end of the swap. I had sent extra..wrote and asked just send my own back but she was stern enough to measure them up instead and discard and send them back...but I got ones back that were no better but colors were less acceptable. That was over a year ago...am over it but it rather put me off doing anything with them.
Yours look great.
I know you will be selected! How awesome!
Cathy,
Hope you get to go and participate in his workshop. I am very excited about getting to see him speak at a workshop here in my hometown. He was brought in by a local yarn store but he will be speaking about his spectacular shapes book. I can hardly wait to see him...
I do love his use of color- always so rich..
Regards,
Anna
nice blocks......
Congratulations on the win - I know you are a big lover of Kaffe so you were the perfect winner!
Love that Dream On fabric - looks perfect for your project.
Lucky, lucky you--should be great fun! (Your blocks are lovely too--the green is a perfect color with those prints!)
Congratulations on winning the workshop. You lucky duck!
Your quilt-along blocks are fabulous, love the vintage feel of the fabrics!
Just after you sent me a link to a jelly roll of this fabric, I got a message from fat quarter shop to say they had layer cakes available, so I got a layer cake from them in the end. Love it! But not going anywhere NEAR it until I get some more finishes under my belt. :-)
Big Congrats on having your name pulled out of the hat!!! I'm having fun wandering through your posts to find the Flee Market Fancy Bags I saw on Flickr. I'm loving your quilt along blocks!! The spots work so well.
thats so exciting I am hoping that Janet gets to go to MO for his and Kim McLeans workshop in Feb
can't wait to hear all about your lecture and meeting Kaffe!
Kathie
Congratulations on the ticket win! That's big news, I'm so pleased for you and you must make sure you take the mosaic quilt and he can see it in person.
Those fabrics really do look like vintage sheets, it'll make a great cot quilt. At least you are using fabric up.
First, CONGRATULATIONS on your win. Second, OH MY GOODNESS I've been eyeing Dream On since I first saw it and pairing it with green polka dots makes me weak at the knees. LOVE it. I fear I won't be able to resist purchasing some, especially now.
Congratulations on the Kaffe win - well deserved, you are the biggest Kaffe fan I know!
Oh Cathy. How could Kaffe say 'no' to you!
Woo-hoo! What great news for you! I know how you've been hoping to get the chance to meet him.
Those white dots on the green are perfect with the Dream On... what a summery quilt you are going to have :)
Yahoo! VERY, VERY exciting about the class! What a wonderful thing to look forward to! Your quilt along quilt will be, well, dreamy. :-) Such a genius collection of fabrics. May need to add more than a charm pack to my Dream On collection.
Yoehoo!! Congratulations on the class! That is going to be just fabulous!! Couldn't have happened to a better person and I hope Kaffe knows you almost singlehandedly empty the shelves of all that lovely Kaffe fabric!! (well.. almost...lol!)
Your jelly roll plan is the prettiest one I've seen in blogland....LOVE the green polka dots!! Congratulations on the workshop with Kaffe....I'm so envious!!
Crispy

Great news, Cathy! I know you will enjoy his workshop ; )
I like your twist on the quilt-along. The added green will bind it all together. Very pretty fabric!
You are going to really enjoy his workshop! (and he will like meeting you too I am sure!)
I like how you used the green to give the design some flow. I made a sample for our LQS using a jellyroll and also used a yard of green...my fellow quilters said it was the lawn for all the flowers on the jellyroll!
Love this jelly roll and I finally got mine. Your quilt idea is great!
Oh!! A workshop with Kaffe. You are so lucky. I know you will enjoy that. Your blocks are wonderful.
That will be a GREAT experience!!! I'm happy for you:)
What a FABULOUS win for you, Cathy!!! : ) I am twinkle toe excited for you!!! Uh, NICE quilt too! ; )
