First 2011 UFO

Towards the end of last year I decided I would like to attempt to finish some of the ufo's I had lying around my house. I was able to finish this one...
The Wonderful Half Square Triangle Quilt (blogged here)

And this one...
Allotment Quilt (blogged here)

My first ufo for this year will be one I started about 7 or 8 years ago!! It was a BOM that I began with a friend when I still lived in Brisbane. A lovely Leanne's House quilt, it combines patchwork with applique and embroidery...
I still love this quilt, but my tastes have changed since I began this BOM. I now plan to give this as a gift (I cannot say to whom yet for she may read this post). I have only 6 weeks to finish it. These are the seven blocks already finished...
I have just two needing the embroidery and applique finished on...
The little details in this quilt are simply gorgeous...
My plan is to quilt it simply, in the ditch and around the appliques. I can get it done in 6 weeks surely? Mind you, I am slightly distracted by my lovely pile of Soul Blossom at the moment, I have started a quilt with them, hope to show you soon. xo

I love all the finishes!! I remember you posting the two at the beginning of this post and still love them! So glad you finished them. Your BOM is beautiful and definitely is different than your current tastes. But that is okay in my book! Tastes and styles change over the years, but we can still love and admire what we have accomplished.

I'll second what Jackie said. Beautiful embroidery work on that BOM, and how fortunate that you have a recipient in mind who will love them :)

I love your triangle quilt and the quilting looks fantastic. When I made Leanne's House (so many moons ago) I machine quilted it following Leanne's hand-quilting design - it worked well and was very quick.

Funny how our 'palettes' change over the years.
I''m sure this quilt (a work of art really) will be much loved by its recipient.

PS I would love a catch up soon. I'm still unsure of my hours but I should have some flexibility. (Working mainly from home).

Love your HST quilt!!

My taste in fabrics and colours has changed over the years too. I started blogging and quilting in 2007 and I loved Leanne’s Journey of a quilter quilt back then. I made some blocks, but this UFO ends up at the bottom of my list over and over again.

Congratulations on having two beautiful big quilt finishes. I love both of these simple patterns with big impact.
Your long time wip is beautiful too. I have admired this very romantic pattern since it was fresh! It is a perfect choice for a girl who loves her garden! I would say have fun finishing it up and admire all the lovely stitching thats gone into it. Can you really give it away?

WOWZER...I love the triangle quilt. The quilting gives it fabulous dimension. Someone is going to be delighted to receive the beautiful stitchery quilt. So easy to be distracted by Soul Blossoms. Project cut and ready to sew on my design wall.

Fantastic! Gorgeous work and ADMIRABLE work ethic on the UFOs. Um, I was looking at a stack of UFOs just yesterday. More like moving them around so I could get to what was underneath them. Yes, ahem. :-)

I love the setting fabric color, it really makes the prints pop! I am green with envy that you have a UFO done!
As for the BOM...my goal is to stay current with my BOM's because like you...my tastes change and then I am screwed and tatoo'd! lol

Hey you! Congratulations on two gorgeous finishes! Doesn't it feel good? I love the BOM quilt too. It is obvious to see the differences in your taste/style between "then" and "now", but it's fun too! I know you'll get it done in time and I'm looking forward to seeing it in all it's glory!

Hi! My name is erica. Would you be my friend? said...

I swear my tastes change monthly at least! :) Good luck on resisting your new goodies to finish an old one! I love the embroidery on that...so sweet! It'll be a happy, cozy quilt. :)

(I'm trying not to be lured in by the blogs on your sidebar! :D I will get off this computer!!!)
