This quilt is based on the beautiful Fruit Salad quilt designed by Liza Prior Lucy and found in Kaffe Fassetts book Quilts en Provence (pub. 2010).
Liza Prior Lucys quilt Fruit Salad Quilt
I had a lot of fun quilting this one. I really didn't have a plan to start with, so I decided firstly to do some hand quilted straight lines using Perle 8 threads in various colours.
I felt it needed a little more than that so I added tan machine quilted lines in between.
Still not satisfied I decided to add some machined curvy zig zag lines in coloured threads.
Lastly the border was hand quilted with a cream perle 8. Very happy now!!!
The binding is a gorgeous lime green Japanese fabric.
It is so nice to have a finished quilt! Have you had a finish lately?

Your quilt looks lovely Cathy. Love the first photo and how the quilting came about step by step. Beautifully done. No quilt finishes here, still working slowly on my current one.
This is really lovely. The candy colors are so vibrant, and I love the triangle pattern.
My last finish was at 3am this morning, when I finished hand sewing the binding for the Modern Quilt Guild Habitat challenge. Sometimes you just have to finish!
I'm drooling over your Japanese Fruit Salad Cathy! Everything about it is perfect.
Been finishing ups some small projects, but not quilts lately. Single Girl top is calling to me though!
Gorgeous Cathy! Your quilting looks like so much fun, and so perfect! (Love the background of your photos too--is that lovely view where you live? If so lucky you!)
oh this quilt is so so gorgeous and the colours are to die for.
To answer your question, i have had plenty of starts and no finishes lol
Crikey Cathy.

Great choice of fabrics too, you are very talented !

I just love your version of "fruit salade", Cathy! Quilts in Provence is one of the few books I didn't buy yet, I think I need it right away...!!!( Recently, I seem to love all geometric shapes..) x
Simply awesome Cathy!
Love it Cathy, what size needle did you use for the hand quilting with perle thread?
cheers
Christine
Just stunning Cathy! I love your mix of machine and hand quilting and your gorgeous colour palette. I have had a finish recently, but it is hanging in my new craft classroom and I need to get it back home to photograph it outside (that's if it will stop raining long enough!).
Oh it is just stunning and the use of all those beautiful prints. just lovely. well done and I like that you have hand and machine quilted the quilt.

Your quilt is simply gorgeous! the hand quilting adds a lovely texture. i haven't had any finishes for ages but this last week I finally finished a quilt top. It was part of a quilt along from last year. It felt soo good.
oh it is so beautiful CAthy. you are, as ever, so inspiring!
Hello! I am Lily's Quilts sister and I have never commented on another quilting blog apart from hers but this quilt is so amazing I had to let you know. It's just fab.
I LOVE it!!!!
Looks fabulous Cathy, well done!
I think Kaffe and Liza need to take you on as a guest designer in their next book!
Looks fantastic love the colours
Ooohhhh, so so so lovely Cathy! I just love the colours... divine!!!!
This is breathtaking! Really stupendously gorgeous! The hand quilting alone must have taken a lot of hours - I have only dabbled with it myself but I know how time consuming it is! Just...wow!
Absolutely beautiful! What a great quilt, I love your colours and the quilting is stunning!
Your color choices are very charming.
Stunning quilt (and backdrop)! Thank you for the quilting info too. Now all I need to do is learn to sew triangles - we don't get on very well and past attempts are just that - attempts - and gone no further. Any hints?
Gorgeous quilt! I admire your patience/skill to piece so many triangles.
Another beauty Cathy! Love the fabrics used but especially love how you've combined hand and machine quilting. I have been planning to do a combination of hand and machine on a quilt top I finished recently. Thanks for the inspiration
What an amazing quilt! I love it! I rarely see bright colourful quilts with Japanese fabric or if there is a bright colour it is usually paired with something very dark!! This is beautiful. Well done!
Susie
Just beautiful
