Fairytale Finish
Remember this one? I began it back in April by joining two lovely fabric lines together...Heather Ross's Far Far Away II and Denyse Schmidt Hope Valley.
Combining the cotton Hope Valley with the heavier linen base Far Far Away worked out really well and they sewed up beautifully together.
Having the gorgeous fairytale fabrics like Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Owl and the Pussycat, I decided I must find a castle to hang this quilt off. Not too far from me is the gorgeous Manyung Art Gallery that looks just like a miniature castle don't you think?!
To go along with the fairytale theme I wanted to quilt this one in a bit of a fanciful manner, so I did a curvy zigzag over every seam...
and then used stipple stitch in the fairytale blocks only (click on the photo's to get a better look!).
The back of the quilt was designed by using leftovers from my stash piles plus an extra yard of orange and purple.
I'm really happy with how it turned out.
A finish always feel great! xo

Lovely finish Cath. Those two fabric ranges mix well. I like the squiggly quilting over the seams I did this on one of my recent quilts to. Well done. I do like trying out the fancy stitches on my Janome.

This quilt is fabulous! Great use of two different weight fabrics, and don't the two ranges look like they were just meant to go together.
How did you ever get that quilt to hang up so high?
Best combo of two fabric ranges. I love everything about the quilt. The quilting, the design, the backing, just everything. It would be a great one to send off to a publisher.
Adorable and really fairy quilt! Fabrics are just lovely together!

I might have to cut into my most precious stash? Funny how some fabric seems to pretty to use. You are an inspiration!
I love that gorgeous colour palette - sigh. And the simple design really shows off the beautiful fabrics. I finally started that all Liberty EPP star quilt, but now my blog has broken and won't update so I can't share it with anybody!! Double sigh.
I've been watching the progress of this one as I have some Far Far and Away also and not sure what I will do with it. As always you are inspirining and this quilt is gorgeous! Happy Stitching, Susie

Beautifil Cathy...What a great backdrop setting for the quilt..

Lovely quilt Cathy. Well Done. The colours look good in a plain square setting. You are an amazing professional quilter to be able to put the colours together, piece it so carefully and precisely and then quilt it on your own maching. Amazing work. Fantastic.
The colours and shapes are so harmonious, its perfect!
Oh, I love this quilt Cathy. The colors and fabrics are just wonderful and your photos and photo locations are perfect to highlight it.
